Workforce Housing, Stormwater, and Goal Setting on Rockland City Council Agendas in February | #citycouncil

ROCKLAND – The City of Rockland invites the public to upcoming meetings hosted by the City Council that will address a potential stormwater utility as a way to undertake needed stormwater projects. Also scheduled are Council goal-setting meetings built around recommended actions in the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

All meetings are open to the general public and will take place at Rockland’s City Hall Council Chambers at 270 Pleasant Street.

A Workforce Housing Forum will take place Wednesday, January 24, at 6 p.m. This will be a public forum to discuss workforce housing issues, concerns, and potential solutions. Please join us for an opportunity to learn about and have your voice heard on one of the most important issues facing the City today.

On Wednesday, January 31, at 5:30 p.m., all are invited as the City Council learns more about the possible formation of a Storm Water Utility through a presentation by Wright-Pierce, the engineering firm that prepared the City’s Storm Water Master Plan released in May of 2023. This will be an opportunity to better understand the pros and cons of a storm water utility, and what would be involved in the formation process.

On Wednesday, February 7, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the City Council will host the first in a series of goal-setting meetings organized around recommendation in the City’s Comprehensive Plan. This first meeting will focus on Sustainability, Economic & Community Vitality, Mobility and Public Infrastructure. The goal setting meeting of Wednesday, February 14 will focus on Zoning and Codes, and the February 28th meeting will discuss Housing.

The Public is welcome at all City Council meetings. For a more complete and up-to-date schedule of upcoming meetings and issues to be addressed, please visit the City of Rockland’s website at www.rocklandmaine.gov/municipal/calendar/
