Westfield City Council approves labor contract with police patrol officers | #citycouncil

WESTFIELD β€” After a year of negotiations and arbitration, the City Council last week approved the recently signed Westfield Patrol Officers Coalition Succession Agreement for July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025.

In presenting it to the council on Dec. 15 for a vote, Councilor Brent Bean II said the agreement had originally been signed in December 2021 under former Mayor Donald Humason. The City Council rejected it, and it went back to the new mayor. He said now, a year later, an agreement has been reached.

β€œThe council does not sit at the negotiation table. When we rejected it, it went back to the mayor, who at that time was a new mayor,” Bean said.
