It is Monday, November 6, 2023. The afterglow from Saturday night’s big Alabama win still has everyone smiling. The Crimson Tide has now avenged both of last season’s last moment losses, taking down Tennessee and now LSU.
Much to the disgust of most of the rest of the college football world, Alabama is in position to take advantage of any stumbles from teams ranked above and move into position for another shot at the College Football Playoffs.
Weekend weather was absolutely perfect for the battle for first place in the Southeastern Conference West title.
But there was a downside to the cobalt blue skies, the drought. Not only was the weekend dry but the start of the work week is as well. The drought will continue to spark wildfires at least through Wednesday. There is, however, potential for a brief respite.
There is 60% chance for rain overnight Thursday and again Friday. Friday night will follow-up with a 30% chance. There are lesser 20% chance Saturday night and during the day Sunday.
Now we are still a few days out and as we have seen already during this protracted drought; rain forecasts can dry up quickly, but here’s hoping.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 49. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the morning.
Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 55. South wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.
Remainder of the Week: Chance of rain Thursday night through Friday. High in the lows 80, low near 60 Thursday. A cold front will move through Friday dropping the high to near 70 and low in the lower 50s.
Veterans Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 67.
Topping the News:
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reports a handcuffed man who escaped custody in Duncanville this morning was recaptured just before 1:00 this afternoon. Sheriff’s deputies and canines were used in the search for the man.
More information on the incident is expected this afternoon.
A spokesperson for TCSO, said deputies scoured the area of Argonne Forest and Bearmont Road near Duncanville searching for the man after he escaped.
An emergency alert that had been sent to area residents described the handcuffed man as having red hair under a baseball cap who was wearing a black sweatshirt.
The Republican National Committee has selected Tuscaloosa to host the fourth presidential debate. The RNC has informed the various campaigns the Tuscaloosa debate will be December 6. The official public announcement is expected before Wednesday’s debate in Miami.
On the Alabama GOP website Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl released the following statement regarding the Tuscaloosa debate:
“I am extremely excited that the national Republican Party is working on a debate for the state of Alabama. This has been in the works for months, and I am thrilled we are getting close. Seeing Alabama host its first ever official presidential debate is something that has been very important to me as ALGOP Chairman, and I am incredibly thankful for Debate Committee Chairman David Bossie and RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel for their efforts to make this happen. There is still some work to be done, but I hope this historic event can be finalized soon.”
Beginning today people in Tuscaloosa can pay off $18 city overtime parking tickets with a toy donation to a charitable organization, according to the city website.
Toys valued at $10 or more will satisfy a $18 parking ticket. Toys valued at $20 or more will be accepted in place of two $18 parking tickets.
Participants can bring their toys to Tuscaloosa Municipal Court at 2122 6th St. between Nov. 6 and Dec. 6.
The U.S. Justice Department has awarded Tuscaloosa nearly $250,000 towards hiring a social worker, clinical therapist, and other resources for a mental health court. Prosecutors noticed that many repeat offenders have mental issues.

It is a malicious code, that operates on JavaScript and Node.js, stealthily collects data from web browsers, and leverages it to compromise Facebook accounts.

The Alabama Football Team remains #8 in both AP and USA Today College Football Polls. However, the rankings mean little since the College Football Playoff Committee began issuing their poll last week. The CFP poll is used to place teams in the playoffs and super six bowl games.
