No. 9 Arkansas (5-1) plays on the mainland for the first time since its third-place finish at the Maui Invitational, hosting Troy (6-1) at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. The Trojans picked up their second straight win on Tuesday at home before hitting the road for the next three games. Ricky Council IV leads the Razorbacks, scoring 19.0 points per game, while Anthony Black put up 14.2 a game. Duke Miles is Troy’s leading scorer at 14.0 points a game while Nelson Phillips averages 13.6 points and 3.1 steals a contest. Scott Cross came to Troy in 2019 and is 46-51 while Eric Musselman has led the Arkansas program since 2019, as well, and is 78-29 with back-to-back visits to the Elite Eight.

In Wednesday’s game in Hawaii, Kamani Johnson picked up a loose ball in the paint and laid it in at the buzzer to force overtime and then scored on a putback with 1:53 remaining in the OT to help Arkansas to a 78-74 win over No. 17 San Diego State. Trevon Brazile scored 20 points and had nine rebounds off the bench while Council scored 19.
Also on Wednesday, Troy rolled to a 118-61 blowout of NAIA opponent Southern-New Orleans, scoring 66 points in the first half. Phillips and Duke each scored 22 points while Phillips also had 13 steals, eight assists and eight rebounds. Christyon Eugene added 21 points.
The programs have met five times previously, with the Razorbacks holding a 4-1 edge. Arkansas won the last matchup on Dec. 16, 2017, in North Little Rock by an 88-63 score.
