Video Release: Mayor Garcetti brings together faith and community leaders in wake of racist and hateful comments

LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti today hosted a gathering of faith and community leaders to help begin the healing process and show solidarity in the wake of the comments made by L.A. City Councilmembers and a former county labor leader. The event gave the faith and community leaders a platform to discuss ways to move forward, strengthen ties between communities, and stand together against divisive and hateful rhetoric.

“When we face the toughest moments of our lives, forgiveness and healing don’t happen overnight – but now, more than ever, we must embrace the task of strengthening the bonds of respect, trust, and cooperation that have always been at the heart of L.A.’s story,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti. “As we begin the hard work of moving past the pain of the last few days, I’ll keep working to create spaces that speak to the things that we are for: moving forward leadership that starts with values, building and sharing power, and giving each other the gift of kindness that can help heal our city.”
