Traverse City Mayor acknowledged for service

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — Traverse City Commissioners honored Mayor Richard Lewis.

Monday’s meeting would be the Mayor’s last in the position.

Over the summer, Lewis announced he wouldn’t be running for re-election, ending his two year run as Mayor.

“This really goes to you guys, commission members, to all the staff in this, everybody that does it. I’m only one person, it’s you guys that have to do the work. I just get to run the meetings.”

For his time spent working in Traverse City, as Mayor or otherwise, Lewis was given a key to the former Senior Center and a brick from the now demolished building as a reminder for the hard work he put in to get the new and improved facility built.
