Town Shocked! Upset With Man Trying to Live in Arkansas Cemetery

The cemetery is located along Highway 365 and owned by Virginia Baptist Church, according to a report from THV11. According to the report, the man recently bought some plots in the cemetery, not to be buried there but to make his home there. A man in the neighborhood who lives across the street from the cemetery recently noticed that a shed was delivered to the middle of the property.

Even the town’s Mayor said a service request for utilities from the man, who according to records shows he bought the plots with a quick-claim deed without seeing where the land was located. After learning that he purchased the land with graves on it, the man cordoned off his area, and put up “No Trespassing” signs.

The Mayor is worried that the man might be setting up his property on top-up graves which could lead to charges filed for desecration. Many in the community feel as though the man may be destroying the century-old graves by trying to move in there.

Attempts to reach out to the man have failed thus far. I guess you could say, the verdict is still out on this story.

There are many laws about what you can and cannot do in a cemetery, they all vary from state to state but one of the most common laws since most cemeteries are privately owned, on private property, you risk getting arrested for criminal trespassing, if you decide to sleep in the cemetery or graveyard that is still active as public property.
