Tough day for a natural gas outage, but here we are – Arkansas Times

Some poor people in West Little Rock are without heat on this frigid day. Summit Utilities reports a service outage to what they suspect is roughly 100 people. Oof.

Here’s their press release:

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (December 23, 2022)– Due to extreme cold weather conditions, Summit Utilities Arkansas (Summit) is experiencing a gas outage in the Rock Creek area of Little Rock, west of Napa Valley and Hinson Road. Crews have been dispatched to the area and are working to address the situation as quickly as possible. At this time Summit believes approximately 100 customers have been impacted.

“Our teams have been working around the clock to prepare for this week’s cold temperatures. Despite that fact, the extremely cold temperatures have caused one of our regulator stations to freeze, impacting the flow of gas to our customers,” said Fred Kirkwood, Chief Customer Experience Officer. “We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

For those that need it, the City of Little Rock has set up a warming station at West Central Community Center at 8616 Colonel Glenn Rd., Little Rock, AR 72204. You can call the warming station at 501-379-1890. We will continue to keep you informed.

Summit Utilities bought out CenterPoint Energy earlier this year.
