The Literacy Council of Western Arkansas has free clothes closet


The Literacy Council of Western Arkansas offers free clothes for people who need them.The council has long focused on lifestyle classes, English as a Second Language and writing-skill classes.In 2022, a donation of six boxes of clothes started what has grown into a full clothes closet for people in the Fort Smith community.”We are getting clothes in by the week,” said Bente Eriksen, the executive director. “That means we get sacks of clothes that need to be sorted through. That needs to be, you know, correctly put into space.”Eriksen said the clothes donations are important to people.”We have dresses,” Eriksen said. “You can come in here and get dressed and prepare for a job interview.
