Steamboat City Council set to welcome new members at Tuesday meeting | #citycouncil

Steamboat Springs City Council will welcome three new members at their meeting Tuesday after members Heather Sloop, Ed Briones, and President Robin Crossan are afforded the opportunity to make parting remarks before leaving their seats.

New members Steve Muntean, Amy Dickson and Bryan Swintek will then be sworn in, along with Michael Buccino, who was re-elected last week to represent District 1. City Council members will also select a new President and pro-tem position.

After a report from City Manager Gary Suiter, which will include a breakdown of the year’s 911 call volume, members will vote on a number of planning resolutions including a proposed 63-unite multiple-family residential development on Ski Trail Lane.

Members will then move on to a first reading of an ordinance to amend the city’s municipal code to remove use stands for child care centers and allow the facilities by-right in multiple zone districts. Another first reading of an ordinance will be held to adopt fire code regulations dealing with prescribing regulations that govern hazardous conditions to life and property from fire, hazardous materials or explosion and the issuance of permits for construction or operational activities.

The agenda also includes two second readings of ordinances; one dealing with the revision of the signing authority for city contracts; and the other related to levying a property tax for the purpose of funding fire and emergency services.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. inside Centennial Hall following a half hour reception, and is expected to last for approximately four hours.
