He issued a statement Tuesday in response to the Supreme Court ruling, saying:”Fortunately the current Supreme Court of North Carolina has rectified bad precedent from the previous majority, reaffirming the state constitutional authority of the North Carolina general assembly. We will continue to move forward with the redistricting process later this year.”Democrats fear that the new map will send congressional representatives, like the Triad’s Kathy Manning, into early retirement. In 2022, Republicans drew Manning out of her district before Democrats on the State Supreme Court rejected the GOP plan.Manning recently told WXII 12 News she’s confident that won’t happen again. “I think the Supreme Court case that was just decided reaffirming the Voting Rights Act could, in fact, help us (win an Alabama),” Rep.
