Sonoma selects new mayor, swears in new city council

Sonoma woke up to a new city council Thursday morning as Patricia Farrar-Rivas, John Gurney and Ron Wellander joined the dais Wednesday in a meeting which was optimistic for Sonoma’s future.

The reshuffled council voted to elect Sandra Lowe as mayor of Sonoma with former Sonoma Police Chief John Gurney as vice mayor.

Wednesday’s swearing in of new council members signaled the final meeting for former mayor Madolyn Agrimonti, former vice mayor Kelso Barnett and Bob Felder. They take with them 46 years of public service to the city of Sonoma.
