Sixers to sign Arkansas guard Ricky Council IV to two-way deal

The Philadelphia 76ers did not have a pick in the 2023 NBA draft due to moving their first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden deal and then the NBA stripping them of their second-round pick due to tampering.

So to add a young player, they had to wait until after the draft and see who was still available.

Arkansas guard Ricky Council IV has caught the eye of the Sixers after a solid season with the Razorbacks. He averaged 16.1 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 43.3% from the floor. He struggled shooting it from deep at 27%, but the Sixers will bring him in on a two-way deal.

One has to figure that Council IV will be spending a lot of time with Philadelphia’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. There, he will be able to develop his skills and continue to grow as a player. He will likely head to Las Vegas for summer league as well.
