Last night Sen Alan Clark, who was just disciplined by his colleagues for his attempt to steal $$ from Arkansas taxpayers, is at a Republican meeting wearing a “scarlet E” scoffing at his ethics violation.

I got a couple of notes, and this photograph, reporting that Sen. Alan Clark of Lonsdale and Hot Springs, the Republican cited by the Senate Ethics Committee for claiming per diem for a meeting he didn’t attend, joined a Republican Party of Arkansas dinner last night wearing a scarlet “E” around his neck.
For Ethics, maybe?
He hasn’t responded to my e-mail query about the adornment.
Last night was the Reagan/Rockefeller dinner of the state party. Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana spoke at the event at the Embassy Suites.
As the Tweet above shows, his appearance has drawn attention elsewhere.
He has apologized, after much grousing, for trying to nab money he hadn’t earned. Maybe he views this as additional atonement and sees himself as a modern-day Hester Prynne, aiming for repentance and reclaiming dignity. Or maybe not.
