Rockford city council approves Annual Action Plan supporting local housing | News | #citycouncil

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Rockford’s city council accepted next year’s plan expanding community housing opportunities.

Reported on the city’s social media, local officials voted on the plan earlier this week.

Signing off on the 2024 Annual Action Plan, the proposal manages and directs program funds such as the Community Development Block Grant, HOME and Emergency Solutions Grant.

“These federal entitlement funds are used to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities,” the city shares over social media.

Similarly, the Action Plan aims to assist those with low to moderate incomes. Program funds cover numerous economic developments such as housing rehabilitation, demolitions, homeless support/services, infrastructure and more.

The approval arrives after the city requested public input in November.

A complete copy of the plan is available on the city of Rockford’s website.
