FINDLAY, OH (WLIO) – A long-time public servant has retired from Findlay’s city council.
Jim Slough’s 24-year tenure on the council ended last month. He has served as the 6th and 4th ward councilman, at-large councilman, and council president. Slough has worked with several mayors’ administrations on both sides of the political aisle and has watched his hometown of Findlay grow both in population and economically. Despite the different viewpoints of his colleagues through the years, Slough says they all shared the same passion for the city that he has.
“Most rewarding to me is having had the opportunity to be an integral part of this community and to work for its betterment and to watch it grow from 25,000 or 20,000 to 30,000,” he said.
Jim Slough didn’t always have his heart set on Findlay. He spent some time away living in New York, but when he returned, he decided to stay for good.
“When I was young I thought I couldn’t wait to get out of this city, and here I am raising a family. I’ve raised a family and been on council 20+ years,” he continued.
Though Slough has stepped away from the council, he will be running for a seat on the Ohio Republican Party Central Committee, hoping to continue serving his community from a different office.
