Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun, family continue long-time Christmas tradition | News

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Mayor Jason Salamun shared some holiday spirit at the Cornerstone Mission with his family on Christmas morning.

For more than 25 years, the Salamun family has served Christmas breakfast at the Cornerstone Mission in Rapid City for anyone in need of a hot meal– cooking ham, eggs, pancakes and more for visitors to enjoy.

Dalaina Salamun explaining that the tradition began after a mission trip to Chicago inspired one of her sons.

“Our youngest son said, ‘Why don’t we do something in Rapid City?’ And we started this that next Christmas morning, and we’ve done it ever since,” she said. “We love the people. We love to just share Christmas cheer with people that have not quite as much as others. And we just like to be here.”
