Proclamation for Women Veterans Day in Arkansas – Arkansas Governor


WHEREAS: On June 12, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed into law the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, Pub. L. No. 80-625 allowing women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, and United States Air Force;
 
WHEREAS:  Women Veterans Day is observed on June 12 in the United States to mark the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, Pub. L. No. 80-625;
 
WHEREAS:  Women Veterans Day is acknowledged as an effort to honor the work of women in the United States Armed Forces and recognize the unique challenges that women have faced; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of
Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim the 12th day of June, 2023 as
 

“WOMEN VETERANS DAY IN ARKANSAS”

 
And urge the citizens of the state to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 13th day of June, in the year of our Lord 2023.
