From cleaning up the garbage on our streets to urgently repairing our sidewalks to fighting for a better public education system for our youth — there is a lot of work to do at the city level. I have two siblings in our Providence school district, a brother who is a public school teacher, and many cousins who also attend PPSD, so improving our school buildings and level of education is an issue that I will always fight for.

2.  What do we need to do to improve Providence’s economy?

In terms of our finances, the next City Council needs to be prepared to take on large private institutions like Brown University to ensure that they are finally paying their fair share in taxes. The more property they buy up the more the tax rate for residential homeowners will go up. We also need to do a better job in supporting our small and micro businesses, those are the folks that are truly invested in our City.

3.  What is the greatest challenge facing Providence as a city?

After canvassing for the past ten months, most challenges that neighbors have shared with me would fit into one of the following three categories; the lack of affordable housing, the quality of our public education system, and quality of life concerns. I would also add our underfunded pension system.

4.  Why are you running for office? What makes you uniquely qualified?

I am running to serve my neighbors because I have both professional and lived experience that gives me a unique perspective and the skillset to advocate and fight for my neighbors at the city level. I have a strong grasp on how government works and, more importantly on how it should truly work. I’m committed to always being a strong advocate for a clean transparent government that fully engages our neighbors and works for everyone. While City Hall has been plagued for decades with backroom deals, my principles centered around honesty, hard work, and compassion are not negotiable. I will always be accountable to the working people and families of Providence.

5.  Who is your inspiration?

Personally, my mom. Politically, State Representative David Morales.
