Police report cites Roswell mayor in hit-and-run case


A witness that saw a parking lot hit-and-run crash said the driver of the vehicle was Roswell Mayor Tim Jennings. The crash happened on the Fourth of July.The witness told police he was in the parking lot of the Roswell Country Club when he saw Jennings back into another vehicle. The Roswell Police Department found no physical evidence at the accident to further its investigation.Police also found there was no video surveillance of the parking lot. No one involved in the accident remained at the scene when officers arrived, according to RPD. No charges have been filed against Jennings and the case is inactive for Roswell police. The department requested that the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office do its own investigation and the sheriff’s office agreed.RPD made the decision for transparency since the allegations are against a city public official.
