Police commissioner announces he’s running for York mayor


York’s police commissioner is running for mayor.Commissioner Michael Muldrow made the announcement Sunday night during the New Year’s Eve white rose drop.Current Mayor Michael Helfrich said he’s not seeking reelection and is supporting Muldrow.Muldrow has been police commissioner since 2020.Prior to that, he spent 12 years as the Chief of School Police and Safety Services for the York City School District.He has been a member of the York City Police Department since May 2000. In his time with the department, he has also served on the community policing unit, the mobile neighborhood policing team and assisted the York County Drug Taskforce as a sworn county detective.
