Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo Secures Endorsement from Planned Parenthood Advocates – Pasadena Now

Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo’s campaign said it has secured the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Advocates Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley, which has pledged to support his reelection campaign. 

“PP Advocates proudly endorses Mayor Victor Gordo. Mayor Victor Gordo has demonstrated his dedication to protecting and expanding access to reproductive health care in Pasadena and has the whole-hearted support of PP Advocates,” Planned Parenthood Advocates Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley said in a statement released by Gordo’s campaign. 

Gordo has also gained endorsements from U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congressman Adam Schiff, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, Pasadena Firefighters Local 809, California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang, Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair Mark Gonzalez, and former Mayor of Pasadena Bill Bogaard. 

His campaign said these endorsements reflect broad-based trust in Mayor Gordo’s vision for a dynamic and prosperous Pasadena.

Born in Mexico, Gordo immigrated to the United States with his parents as a young child. He grew up in Pasadena, attended public schools, and contributed to his family’s income by working multiple jobs as the oldest of six siblings. As a young man, he delivered newspapers and worked at a local restaurant.

Gordo later attended Pasadena City College and Azusa Pacific University. When his mother died, he had to give up college temporarily. He later went to law school while working full-time, graduated with honors one year ahead of his class, and passed the California Bar Exam on his first attempt.

A labor leader and the longest-serving president of the Rose Bowl Operating Company, Gordo has been a Pasadena City Councilmember for nearly 19 years, promoting quality-of-life issues, crime prevention, and various community initiatives.

As Pasadena’s mayor, Gordo has prioritized improving the city’s quality of life, steering Pasadena through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and addressing social inequities. The campaign statement said he is particularly focused on providing family-friendly environments and has been instrumental in pursuing public safety and government transparency programs.
