OWENSBORO, Ky. (FOX 56) — Holiday cheer is around every corner this time of year, sometimes in the most unexpected places.
Mayor Tom Watson of Owensboro brought the holiday festivities to the Daviess County Detention Center on Friday.
On Dec. 22, 44 inmates participated in a scripture reading, sang Christmas carols, and Watson shared his testimony with the inmates. According to the AP, it’s an annual tradition.
The Daviess County Detention Center celebrated the festivities on Facebook on Saturday.
“Thank you to Mayor Tom Watson and all of these community leaders for spreading Christmas cheer at the Daviess County Detention Center,” officials said. “Our hope is that these men will help spread holiday joy and peace to others in the facility. We wish our community a blessed Christmas season!”
