Orange County mayor to provide update on preparations for Hurricane Ian


ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings is set to host a news conference to provide an update on the county’s preparations ahead of Hurricane Ian.

The mayor is set to speak at 12:30 p.m. at Orange County’s Emergency Operations Center, 6590 Amory Court, Winter Park.

Demings will be joined by Chief Lauraleigh Avery, director of the county’s office of emergency management. Carlos Durden, the manager of the office of emergency management, and Jeff Charles, the project manager for the county’s stormwater management, will also be available to answer questions.

While it is not yet clear where Hurricane Ian will make landfall in the state, but a majority of the state is expected to feel some impacts from the storm.

Floridians are urged to prepare now ahead of any potential storm impacts.
