CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Newly elected Montgomery County officials were sworn in on Tuesday during a ceremony at the courthouse. The officials were sworn in by Mayor Jim Durrett, Judge Jill Ayers, Kellie Jackson and Judge Wayne Shelton.
Among those sworn in was County Mayor Wes Golden, who told Clarksville Now he’s excited to serve Montgomery County.
“It was just such an honor when I was standing there holding my dad’s Bible, saying the pledge. I got so choked up that I couldn’t hardly say all the words. It’s just the overwhelming feeling of such a grand moment, and it’s just such an honor to be here and serve Montgomery County. “
Golden also highlighted what his next steps will be.
“I’m excited to get to work with all the other elected officials. Once I get into office, I can get in and make my rounds and meet with department heads and all the employees. I just really want to hear from everybody, what they have to say, and what I can help them with,” Golden said.
Here are all the candidates who were sworn in Tuesday evening. Returning commissioners were sworn in as a whole.
