As the deadline approaches to declare eligibility for the April City Council election, nearly all local incumbents have filed their paperwork.

In Manitowoc, all five Alders have filed their paperwork.

District 3 Alderman Michael Cummings.

The District 2 seat, currently held by Chad Beeman, the District 3 seat held by Alderman Michael Cummings, and Todd Reckleberg’s District 10 seat are, at this point, still unopposed.

Incumbent Brett Vanderkin is being challenged for his District 1 seat by Raymond Geigel, and Alderman Tim Boldt is being challenged by Brian Anderson in District 7.

In Two Rivers, Adam Wachowski and Darla LeClair have each returned their paperwork, leaving Bonnie Shimulunas as the only incumbent yet to do so.

Dean LaRose and Ron Abney have also thrown their hats into the ring for one of the three available seats, which are not separated by districts.

City Clerk Jamie Jackson explained to Seehafer News that if seven or more nominees return their paperwork by the January 3rd deadline, which is next Tuesday, there will have to be a primary election.
