Multiple people injured in south Minneapolis mass shooting, city council member says | #citycouncil

MINNEAPOLIS – Several people were injured Sunday in a mass shooting in south Minneapolis, the neighborhood’s second mass shooting in just nine days.

It happened near the intersection of East Franklin and Chicago avenues in the Ventura Village neighborhood of the Phillips community, according to Minneapolis City Councilmember Jamal Osman, who represents Ward 6.

Osman said in a statement released Sunday evening on social media that seven people were hurt in the attack.

“Devastated by the increased gun violence and mass shootings in South Minneapolis,” Osman said.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara is expected to hold a press conference about the shooting sometime Sunday night.

On Aug. 11, a mass shooting outside of the punk music house venue Nudieland, located less than a mile southeast of Franklin and Chicago, left one person dead and six others hurt.
