MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile County is getting ready for election day by making sure that its systems and machines are in good working condition.
All of Tuesday will be spent making sure that 200 ballot counters are ready to go before the Alabama Presidential reference and statewide primary election on March 5th.
“Probate court staff are testing the machines to ensure their accuracy. Once the accuracy is insured, we’ll seal the machines. Both with physical locks, and we will seal them in bubble wrap,” Mobile County Probate Judge Don Davis said.
They will then be delivered to the 80 poll locations in Mobile County. And there’s something new for this year’s election cycle.
“Mobile County has procured metal cages that are on rollers that most of the election materials can be locked in and delivered to the polls and be there. It provides a more secure way to secure those materials,” Davis said.
All to make sure that election day runs smoothly.
“Mobile County is very proud. We have a very strong, long history of good elections. We’re very proud of that reputation. We always work to accomplish that in every election,” Davis said.
The county also wants to remind voters to have an acceptable form of i-d with them when they go to cast their ballots.
