Missing former Cornelius mayor’s car found in Willamette; human remains discovered inside vehicle


The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released a flier last year in the search for Ralph Brown, who was reported missing on May 16, 2021.

A car that belonged to Ralph Brown, the former mayor of Cornelius who has been missing for nearly a year, was found Friday in the Willamette River, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Human remains were found in the vehicle. The Yamhill County Medical Examiner was on the scene to investigate, but could not immediately identify the remains, according to authorities.

The car was located near Roger’s Landing Boat Ramp, in the Newberg area, submerged about 40 feet beneath the river’s surface. It was found by members of Adventures With Purpose, a private search and recovery dive team. A Yamhill County deputy confirmed that a license plate removed from the submerged car was the one associated with the 2014 dark blue Nissan Sentra Brown was believed to have been driving when he was last seen.
