Meridian Mayor seeks locals for City Council Seat 1, applications open till April 2024


Meridian Mayor Robert Simison is accepting letters of interest for Seat 1 on the Meridian City Council.

Interested residents must be qualified Meridian electors and District One residents, meaning they must reside within District One boundaries at the time of the appointment. Those interested must also be at least 18 years old and U.S. citizens.

More details about qualifications are provided in Meridian City Code Section 1-7-2. Interested parties can verify the district of their residence by accessing the City Council District Map.

Applications will be accepted until close of business on April 5, 2024. Per State law and City Code, Mayor Simison will appoint, with the approval of the City Council, an individual to fill the City Council seat until the next general city election in November 2025.

Anyone interested and qualified may complete, sign and deliver a resume and letter of interest to the City Clerk’s Office. These materials may be submitted in person, by mail or electronically. Meridian City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meridian City Hall will be closed Wednesday, March 27, until 1:30 p.m. for an employee meeting.

Mailed submissions need to be postmarked no later than April 5, 2024, and addressed to 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Ste #104, Meridian, ID 83642. Electronic submissions must be emailed to cityclerk@meridiancity.org no later than April 5, 2024, by 5 p.m.

Letters of interest need to contain qualifying elector information, including age and resident address. Individuals should be advised that information submitted to the City Clerk’s Office is considered a public record and subject to disclosure if requested.
