Mayor Randy Sparacino discuses what’s to come for the town hall

MEDFORD, Ore. – Medford City Council will be hosting a series of town halls starting tomorrow at North Medford High School.

The City will cover many topics from previous town hall events — including transportation projects and housing initiatives.

“It’s the opportunity that the citizens of Medford have to actually engage with their elected officials,” said Randy Sparacino, the mayor of Medford. “To find out why we do things the way we do things and what particular items are, you know, up in the forefront for the city council this part of the year.”

Residents can expect an update from the Foothill Road Improvement project, which aims to ease transportation in east Medford.

“Foothill Road Improvement Project, which is a multi-million dollar project on the east side of Medford that’s going to Change the landscape of travel on the east side of town, and it’s in the middle phase of, uh, of construction, and it’s moving ahead of schedule.”

For many residents, homelessness continues to be a key issue. Mayor Sparacino used to be a police chief, safety is a priority for him.

“What we have done over the course of the last couple of years, we’ve extended, expanded our livability team to address the issues on the greenway and in downtown, and also the council approved the public safety strategic plans for both the police and the fire department to expand both police and fire.”
