Mayor Victor Gordo Officially Declares Victory – Pasadena Now

Mayor Victor Gordo has declared victory in his re-election bid for Mayor of Pasadena after receiving over 80% of the March 5 vote.

Gordo extended his deepest gratitude to the citizens of Pasadena for their support and confidence in his leadership in a statement released Friday by his campaign.

In his statement, Gordo acknowledged and thanked his opponent, Allen Shay, for his participation in the democratic process. He emphasized the importance of electoral choice in a vibrant democracy and commended Shay for his bravery in offering an alternative vision for Pasadena.

“Let me take a moment to recognize and thank my opponent in the recent campaign, Allen Shay. It is always more pleasant for a politician to run unopposed, but democracy is always strengthened when the voters know they have a choice,” Gordo said.

“Many places in the world are today experiencing a loss of freedom of choice. Dissent is considered treason. Unaccountable and unopposed leaders make decisions that bring death and destruction upon their people. We don’t want that to happen here in the United States. So it is a good thing when brave people throw their hat into the ring and give the people a choice. That alone is a huge public service, for which we here in Pasadena can thank Mr. Shay.”

Looking ahead, Gordo expressed his commitment to working collaboratively with local residents, community leaders, and small businesses to address the challenges facing Pasadena and to build a brighter future for all.
