The city of Jackson will host Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba’s State of the City address on Thursday evening.The theme of this year’s speech is “Jackson Strong,” and will be held at the Farish Street Courtyard at 207 Farish St., beginning at 6 p.m. The address will be streamed live on the city’s Facebook page.The mayor said the event is open to the public, and there will be “a few goodies” for those in attendance.Lumumba said he will discuss the city’s water crisis and plans to overcome it.”The city of Jackson is targeting over $100 million in federal funds that will be available to advance our efforts to upgrade, repair, modernize the city’s wastewater and infrastructure,” Lumumba said.The Army Corps of Engineers provided $5 million through the Infrastructure Investment Jobs Act, and another $20 million was announced by U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson, Sen. Roger Wicker and Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith.
