Mayor Sylvester Turner to receive ‘Changemaker’ award during Houston Texans’ game

HOUSTON – Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner is going to receive an Inspire Change Changemaker Award during the Houston Texans’ game on Sunday, according to the city of Houston.

Turner was nominated by the Texans and will be honored at halftime.

The NFL chose 32 people to receive this award who have gone above and beyond to make a lasting impact on their community.

These Changemakers were nominated by clubs for having a meaningful impact across Inspire Change’s four focus areas: education, economic advancement, police-community relations, and criminal justice reform,” the city of Houston said.

The Texans selected the mayor for what he has done during his time in office. He created the Hire Houston Youth Program to provide jobs to young adults. He also created the Complete Communities program to revitalize Houston’s underserved communities.
