Mayor Salamun proposes new training facility for first responders | News

RAPID CITY, S.D. –  Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun continues to share his thoughts on reversing the Vision Fund process.

The mayor spoke to the Cosmopolitan Club outlining his plan to go back to the original intent of the vision fund, to help with brick-and-mortar projects. Club members asked the mayor about his plan as well as other city business.

Salamun says one of his ideas for the Vision Fund is a public safety training center. Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun says, “That way, we can train both our law enforcement, firefighters, EMT … folks like that, not just in Rapid City, but perhaps the whole region. So that’s something I’m going to take a look at.”

An ordinance updating the vision process goes before the Legal & Finance Committee on Wednesday. A city council vote could happen as early as April 15.
