Mayor Greenberg and more than 150 volunteers commemorate New Directions Repair Affair’s 30th anniversary
Mayor Craig Greenberg joined New Directions Repair Affair to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Repair Affair Saturday morning. More than 150 volunteers went to multiple low-income senior and disabled homes in Louisville and Southern Indiana to work on basic home repair projects. The projects included landscaping, painting, power washing, deck repair, floor replacement, and construction of a wheelchair ramp. For 30 years, Repair Affair has provided free home-repair assistance to lower-income seniors and disabled homeowners in the community. A year-round program with more than 1,200 annual volunteers, the program has helped repair more than 200 homes every year.Greenberg visited with volunteers from the American Society of Civil Engineers, who built wheelchair ramps for seniors or disabled homeowners. This year they have built a wheelchair ramp for a 70-year-old couple, Mr. and Ms. Moore, on Algonquin Parkway.
