Mayor Dale Copeland, representing Ward 1 on the Bartlesville City Council, invites all city residents to a Town Hall meeting scheduled for Dec. 14.
The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will be hosted at Arvest Eastside, 4225 S.E. Adams Blvd. The event is an opportunity for residents to engage directly with local governance and stay informed about the city’s recent and upcoming initiatives, according to city officials.
“We haven’t done one of these in a long time, and I thought it was probably just a good idea,” Copeland said. “Sometimes people have a notion that they’re going to engage in a dialogue at a council meeting, but this is a business meeting; we’re doing contracts and we’re dealing with those issues. It’s not designed as a time where we talk about paving the street or fixing that sign and so I think a town hall lends itself to that.”
He plans to open the meeting with updates on recent and future city happenings. Following the updates, a question-and-answer session will allow residents to voice their thoughts and concerns about various city matters.
The mayor emphasized the importance of community engagement, noting that it’s a chance for residents to share information and provide valuable feedback about the city’s direction. He hopes for a chance to reach citizens directly.
“There was a time when you had six or seven sources of information and it was easy to tap all of those.” Mayor Copeland said. “Today, there are 40,000 sources of information — I think, yeah, we have perhaps too much information.”
He said members of city staff will be in attendance to help answer questions.
The town hall meeting is part of Copeland’s effort to foster open communication and transparency within the Bartlesville community. He said he would like to encourage all residents, no matter their ward, to attend and participate in the town hall.
