Mayor Cantrell traveling to San Diego for leadership meeting with U.S. Mayors


Mayor LaToya Cantrell will be in San Diego for the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) Fall Leadership Meeting which takes place Sept. 7 – 9, 2023.“Participating in this year’s fall leadership meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors with my brother and sister mayors and countless top-level federal agents will continue to ensure that we are being strategic and intentional in implementing policies and practices that directly benefit the residents of our respective cities,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. The mayor says this appearance will strengthen partnerships at the local, state and federal level through USCM and help deliver meaningful results for the communities across the country.USCM holds two annual leadership meetings for elected and appointed leadership of the organization to develop strategy, focus the priorities of USCM, engage with top-level officials from both the White House and U.S. Capitol and identify emerging issues.On Friday, Sept. 8, Mayor Cantrell will attend a series of meetings and breakout sessions ranging from mental health lobbying efforts, resources and solutions, combatting drug use and drug trafficking and innovative pathways to permanent solutions as it relates to homelessness.On Saturday, Sept. 9, Mayor Cantrell will attend additional forums and seminars related to the implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, women’s health and reproductive rights and strategies for the federal budget for fiscal year 2024. Mayor Cantrell will also attend a mayors-only visit to the U.S.-Mexico border at San Ysidro.Mayor Cantrell will return to New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 10.
