There is only one meeting scheduled for today in the City of Manitowoc.

The City Council will gather at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, and it will begin with a focus on the Police and Fire Departments.

Mayor Justin Nickels will start the proceedings by announcing some promotions within the two departments before also declaring this week as National Police Week.

Yesterday was also known as Peace Officer’s Memorial Day, and this month will also be declared Mental Health Awareness Month.

Also on the agenda is a request from the Army Corps of Engineers to have ingress and egress access to the Harbor, and a request from the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive at the Senior Center.

The Council will also look over bids received for numerous scheduled projects and will look over the inter-municipal agreement with the towns of Manitowoc and Newtown, and Manitowoc Public Utilities regarding water service.
