Voters in Manchester headed to the polls Tuesday to narrow the field of candidates running for mayor, and the two moving to the general election have been decided. Republican Jay Ruais, with 4,296 votes, and Democrat Kevin Cavanaugh, with 2,570 votes, are moving on to the general election.Ruais was the lone Republican candidate in the race. Cavanaugh served in Concord as a state senator and has several big endorsements.It’s the first time an incumbent mayor has not run for re-election in Manchester since 2009. The general election is on Nov. 7.
