A lawyer says time is running out for the Des Moines City Council to take action regarding an absent member.For months, people in Ward 1 have been asking about Indira Sheumaker’s whereabouts. Sheumaker, who was elected last year, has not been to a city council meeting since March. Council members and residents say they have been unable to reach her.Now, some residents are calling for her to resign.During a city council meeting earlier this month, a lawyer for some neighbors presented a petition asking the council to set a hearing to remove Sheumaker.
