In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we’ve summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today’s Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council. Staff Reports with more information are linked to below:

B.4 – TMWRF Dewatering Building Evaluation and Pre-Design Project

Council approved a Consulting Agreement for Evaluation and Pre-Design Services with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. for the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF) Dewatering Building Evaluation and Pre-Design Project in the amount of $1,147,233, with Reno’s share being $787,346 from the Sewer Fund.

B.5 – Stonegate PUD

Council approved the First Amendment to the Stonegate PUD Fire and Public Safety Services Agreement to modify the location of the permanent fire station and allow the project to be subject to an impact fee for police services. The Fire and Public Safety Services Agreement was established to fund a dedicated Fire and Public Safety Station at Heinz Ranch Land Company, LLC’s cost and expense as a part of the StoneGate PUD.

B.7 – Reno Sparks Livestock Event Center

Council adopted a Resolution of support endorsing the Nevada Western Heritage Center Alliance in revitalizing the Reno Sparks Livestock Event Center. The Nevada Western Heritage Center Alliance was created in 2020 to advocate for the revitalization of the facility.

Somersett West Dog Park

Council approved the following items:

B.8 – Acceptance of a Donation from the Somersett Owners Association for part of the costs associated with the purchase and installation of ADA accessible benches at Somersett West Dog Park in the amount of $6,908.24.

B.9 – Approval of the reallocation of American Rescue Plan Act ward-specific allocated funds to the City of Reno’s Parks and Recreation Department to offset costs associated with purchasing and installing ADA accessible benches at Somersett West Dog Park in the amount of $10,000.

C.1 – Meridian 120 South Open Space

Council approved the following items:

C.1.1 – A request for: 1) a Master Plan amendment from ±8.3 acres of Mixed Employment (ME) to Parks, Greenways, and Open Space (PGOS), and 2) a zoning map amendment from ±8.3 acres of Industrial Commercial (IC) to Parks, Greenways, and Open Space (PGOS). The site is located on an ±8.3 acre portion of an ±80.64 acre parcel generally located 0.21 miles southwest of the intersection of Boomtown-Garson Road and Old Town Road.

C.1.2 – A Resolution to adopt an amendment to the land use plan of the City of Reno Master Plan from ±8.3 acres of Mixed Employment (ME) to ±8.3 acres of Parks, Greenways, and Open Space (PGOS).

C.1.3 – Ordinance Introduction for a second reading and adoption to amend Title 18, Chapter 18.02 of the Reno Municipal Code rezoning the ±8.3 acres as described above.

C.2 – Meridian 120 South Condition Amendments

Council upheld the recommendation of the Planning Commission and deleted two conditions of approval associated with Meridian 120 South Villages 1-6. The decision deleted Condition No. 4 regarding dwelling unit allocation and Condition No. 31 regarding a temporary emergency access route. This was based on the belief that the 3,000 residential cap does not apply to Arterial Commercial zoning and that required permanent secondary access is already under construction. C.4 – Gateway at Galena Annexation

Council adopted an Ordinance Introduction and referred it for a second reading and adoption. The Ordinance annexes three parcels totaling ±33.71 acres of property located east of Wedge Parkway ±515 feet south of its intersection of Mount Rose Highway, to the City of Reno. C.5 – Reno City Center Skyway

Council approved a Request for a conditional use permit to construct a skyway (pedestrian bridge) over East Commercial Row, connecting the City Center building (219 North Center Street) to an existing parking garage at 50 East Plaza Street. The proposed skyway crosses East Commercial Row approximately 190 feet west of its intersection with North Center Street. View the Staff Presentation for more information.
