Lamar Picks up Vice Mayor Steve Madison’s Endorsement in District 3 Race – Pasadena Now

On Thursday night, Brandon Lamar announced that he has received the endorsement of Vice Mayor Steve Madison.

“Brandon Lamar has my endorsement and support for Pasadena City Council District 3, just as he did when City Council had the opportunity to appoint him,” Madison said. “It was clear to me then, and still is now, that Brandon is committed to the work of building an inclusive Pasadena where residents of every creed and status are afforded an opportunity to thrive. His demonstrated support from residents within the District—and citywide—is evidence of his continuing commitment to bring fresh voices into our policy decisions and develop solutions to our most pressing issues including affordable housing, public safety, and homelessness. I look forward to working with Brandon to ensure residents of District 3 and all of Pasadena have the opportunity to fulfill their full potential.”

Lamar is facing Justin Jones in the race for the remainder of the term left unfinished by the tragic death of John J. Kennedy.

In the wake of Kennedy’s 2022 passing, the City Council appointed Jones twice, once for the remainder of the term Kennedy was serving when he died. Kennedy had just won reelection and Jones was also appointed to serve the beginning of that term after Lamar dropped out of the appointment process.

“The Vice Mayor’s support amplifies our shared vision for a vibrant, inclusive community,” Lamar said. “As a dedicated public servant, Vice Mayor Madison recognizes the value of my commitment to sustainable solutions for our city. I am looking forward to working together to elevate Pasadena’s future. Striving for innovative solutions and a stronger District 3 – because progress begins with unity and visionary leadership.”
