{KXLG -Watertown, SD} KXLG News looks forward to Monday night’s City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. ahead of the joint meeting that will gather the full City Council and entire Plan Commission board on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Thursday’s meeting intends to have an all-out discussion on the C-L Commercial Lake zoning with potential direction given to staff to bring forward an official first reading.

The consent agenda items are generally approved without discussion and in one vote unless a Councilmember requests an item to be put on the regular agenda for an open public discussion and vote.

An approval of Michael Danforth, Lynn Jurrens, and Dan Schutte as City Council representatives to serve on the 2024 Consolidated Board of Equalization by appointment of Mayor Ried Holien.

Approval to write off uncollectible Ambulance accounts receivable and remit to the collection agency $91,256.75 for January and February.

The authorization for the Police Department to declare miscellaneous equipment such as video cameras and voice recorders as surplus and dispose of it as “junk.” The department also seeks authorization to declare three vehicles surplus to trade into Watertown Ford Chrysler.

Two items are on the regular agenda, beginning with approval of a Bid Award for the neighborhood street reconstruction project of 12th Avenue NW, Project No. 2403, to Duininck Inc., in the amount of $1,443,859.95, pending Watertown Municipal Utilities Board approval.

The last item on the agenda is the approval of a bid Award for Timmons Construction Inc.’s bid for an alley improvement project, Project No. 2413, in the amount of $112,773.50. According to the attached agenda documents, four bids were received for the 2024 Alley Improvement Project, Project No. 2413. Timmons Construction Inc. of Brookings, SD, had a low bid of $112,773.50, 19% lower than the Engineer’s Estimate of $139,233.50.  The alley is centered inside W. Kemp Avenue, 1st Street SW, 1st Avenue SW, and 2nd Street SW.

There is a call for any City Councilmember announcements, the introduction of topics for future discussion, and any City Manager report. An executive session is called if necessary, and the meeting is adjourned.
