Alabama Republican Katie Britt‘s response to the State of the Union address not only sparked a massive row but several people started wondering if the remarks made by the Senator were actually AI-generated. The 42-year-old leader, who is also the first woman to be elected to the US Senate from Alabama, came into question and was trolled by the GOP supporters for making an appearance from a “kitchen,” while making the highly anticipated rebuttal.
It was not clear whether Elizabeth Britt used a “wrong background,” setting, or was she appeared with a real kitchen in the background. The junior senator was offensively called “Stepford Wife,” for making remarks that actually seemed robotic and more so AI generated.
Notably, the term “Stepford Wife” originates from Ira Levin’s satirical thriller novel written in 1972, called “The Stepford Wives.” The wives in the imaginary suburb of Stepford, which appears in the book, behave in an unnaturally robotic, obedient, and submissive manner.
Among the several reactions on social media sites, a user wrote on X, “Why did Katie Britt choose to give the Republican rebuttal to the SOTU from the KITCHEN?! Are we back in the 50s already? What is she trying to tell us? Is she being held hostage? Is the message women should be kept in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant?”
“20 seconds in and no one can convince me this isn’t an SNL skit. Also are we sure Katie Britt isn’t AI??” another user added.
“The true unvarnished state of our union begins and ends with this our families are hurting our country can do better and you don’t have to look any further than the…” spoke the senator from Alabama. “It’s truly breathtaking but right now the American dream has turned into a nightmare for so many families.” An analysis by MSNBC during its live broadcast categorised Britts’ remarks as ones made by someone who was “overcoached.”
