In a busier than usual “Dead Week” ― the week before final exams ― at the University of Alabama, some traffic and parking changes have been announced for Dec. 4-8.
From Dec. 6 through Dec. 8, the Alabama High School Athletic Association Super 7s, with two flag-football championships kicking off the event, all in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Blocks away, NewsNation will be setting up for live broadcasts from the Frank N. Moody Music Building, and on the Quad, for the fourth Republican presidential debate. The debate itself will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Moody Concert Hall.

Road closures
- Second Avenue from University Boulevard to the entrance to the Capstone Parking Deck will be closed Dec. 4 through Dec. 7.
- Second Avenue from Bryant Drive to the entrance to the Capstone Parking Deck will remain open until 5 p.m. Dec. 5. After 5 p.m. Dec. 5, all of Second Avenue will be closed until Dec. 7.
- University Boulevard between Second Avenue and Hackberry Lane will be closed beginning at 1 p.m. Dec. 6. Detours will be in place. Drivers are encouraged to use Campus Drive to travel through campus.
Parking
Here are changes for students, faculty and staff who are Southeast Commuter Permit Holders:
- The Capstone surface lot on Second Avenue will be closed from Dec. 4 until 1 p.m. Dec. 7.
- The Capstone Parking Deck will be closed at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 until 7 a.m. Dec. 7. All vehicles must be removed from the deck by 5 p.m.
- During this week, Southeast Commuter Permit Holders may park in other lots in the Southeast Commuter zone or in the Northeast Commuter zone.
For faculty and staff:
- The Capstone Parking Surface lot on Second Avenue will be closed Dec. 4 until at 1 p.m. Dec. 7.
- The Capstone Parking Deck will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 and remain closed until 7 a.m. Dec. 7. All vehicles must be removed from the deck by 5 p.m.
- The Moody West parking lot, and the parking area behind the Bryant Conference Center will be closed Dec. 6.
- Faculty/staff can find parking in the Coleman Coliseum parking lot or expansion parking lot next to the baseball stadium.
Parking for Fans for the Super 7 and Flag Football Championships
- Fans attending the AHSAA Flag-football and football championships Dec. 6 can find free parking on the west side of campus off Campus Drive West.
- Fans are encouraged to enter campus from the west (downtown Tuscaloosa) to avoid road closures that will be happening on the eastern side of campus.
Other transportation
- Crimson Concierge will suspend campus support from Nov. 30 through Dec. 8 due to other campus support requirements. Service for Crimson Concierge will resume at 8 a.m. Dec. 11.
- Crimson Ride will provide modified campus service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 through Dec. 8. Four buses running the Circulator Route and four buses running the Circulator 2 route will be in service. There is no change to service from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. those days, and no change to service Dec. 9 and Dec. 10. Normal routes will resume at 7 a.m. Dec. 11. Riders with questions can call 205-348-7433.
