Guyton has a new mayor. Here are some of his priorities


The City of Guyton has new leadership.WJCL 22 News caught up with the city’s new mayor following Wednesday night’s council meeting.Andy Harville said he wants to focus on improving transparency in the city. “Top priority is going to be public safety, getting the trust back with the public with law enforcement,” he said.During Wednesday night’s council meeting, Harville and the council also ruled to allow people to comment on the city’s social media pages.”So that was a big thing we had going on where they were limiting or turning off comments and a lot of the residents here had a problem with that because they feel like their voice was taken from them. I was pushing for that to be changed, which we did here night,” Harville said.Harville said he also wants to make sure Guyton is prepared for the growth the Hyundai Metaplant will bring.”That is going to hopefully bring a lot of families into Guyton. We have a new neighborhood going in that will bring 44 houses, not immediately, but pretty fast. Obviously, you want to have new businesses come to town so that is something else we’re looking forward to.”
