Guerriero vs. Capitena for Ward 2 seat on Ashtabula City Council | Local News | #citycouncil

ASHTABULA — Democrat Terence Guerriero and Republican Daryn Capitena are running for the Ward 2 seat on Ashtabula City Council.

The election is slated for Nov. 7.

Guerriero, 52, an Ashtabula native, has worked as a funeral director for many years, serving the local community. He’s also a third generation stone cutter, selling, carving and installing cemetery monuments.

A Class of 1989 St. John graduate, Guerriero graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in 1993, as well as the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1995.

“I’m a fourth-generation resident of Ward 2; I have many family members and friends that live in the ward,” he said. “I have many ideas for future development of the ward and the city.”

Guerriero said he is running for city council to ensure future generations have the same opportunities growing up as he did.

“I would like safe and clean streets for our young, the streets plowed for motorists, economic opportunity for our workers and recreation for everyone,” he said.

Guerriero is married and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

If elected, he promises to be available to his constituents.

His opponent, Capitena, did not respond to the Star Beacon’s request for information.
