TO EDUCATING STUDENTS IN THE FALL. THE MAYOR OF THE SMALL JACKSON COUNTY TOWN OF GREENWOOD IS FACING POSSIBLE REMOVAL FROM OFFICE. MAYOR LEVI WEAVER IS ACCUSED OF THREATENING A CITY ALDERMAN WITH A GUN. LAST YEAR, GABBY STEIN’S ANDY ALCOCK IS INVESTIGATING THESE CLAIMS AND HE’S LIVE AT GREENWOOD CITY HALL WITH MORE. ANDY. RIGHT, CHRIS. LAST NIGHT, THE CITY’S ALDERMEN VOTED 4 TO 0 TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THREE ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT. BEFORE THAT VOTE, THE PUBLIC HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THE NATURE OF THE CASE AGAINST MAYOR LEVI WEAVER. I’D ASK ONE LAST TIME, WOULD YOU CONSIDER STEPPING DOWN NOW? ALDERMAN RYAN MURRAY AFTER MULTIPLE PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS, ASKED GREENWOOD MAYOR LEVI WEAVER TO RESIGN. I KNOW THAT THE ALLEGATIONS ARE NOT WHAT THEY ARE, AND SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, I CAN’T STEP DOWN. MAYOR WEAVER IS ACCUSED OF THREATENING ALDERMAN KYRON MCCLURE WITH A GUN MULTIPLE TIMES AT MCCLURE’S HOME IN MARCH OF LAST YEAR. THE TWO MEN SAT RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER AT WEDNESDAY’S SPECIAL MEETING. WEAVER IS ALSO ACCUSED OF BLOCKING PUBLIC ACCESS TO GREENWOOD’S FACEBOOK PAGE AND INSTRUCTING CITY STAFF TO ALLOW CERTAIN BUSINESSES TO OPERATE IN GREENWOOD WITHOUT A LICENSE. NOW, AN IMPEACHMENT TRIAL WILL MOVE FORWARD AT CITY TAX PAYER EXPENSE. I THINK IT’S PRETTY DISGRACEFUL. YOU KNOW, I DON’T THINK THAT USING A GUN IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TO INTIMIDATE ANYONE IS A GOOD IDEA. I DON’T KNOW IF THIS IS LIKE GETTING BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION OR IF THIS IS WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. MY NAME IS ALREADY RUN THROUGH THE MUD. WE’RE GOING TO RIDE THIS OUT. NEXT STEP AND THE NEXT STEP IN THIS PROCESS IS FOR EVIDENCE TO BE PRESENTED AGAINST WEAVER AT A HEARING MOST LIKELY IN AUGUST. THE MAYOR WILL ALSO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEFEND HIMSELF. THEN THE ALDERMEN WILL VOTE ON WEAVER’S POSSIBLE REMOVAL AS MAYOR AT GREENWOOD CITY HALL. ANDY ALCOCK KMBC NINE NEWS. Greenwood, Missouri Mayor Levi Weaver was removed from office Tuesday night by the Greenwood Board of Aldermen. The removal comes after the approval of three impeachment articles earlier this year. The vote was unanimous. The first article alleged that Weaver threatened Alderman Kyron McClure with a firearm at McClure’s home in March 2022. The second article claimed Weaver prevented public access to the city’s Facebook page. The third article accused him of directing city staff to permit select businesses to run without the necessary licensing.The vote came after a lengthy hearing last week in Greenwood and a special board meeting earlier on Tuesday. Weaver did not attend Tuesday’s meeting. He was present during the hearing last week and defended himself from the allegations.

Greenwood, Missouri Mayor Levi Weaver was removed from office Tuesday night by the Greenwood Board of Aldermen.

The removal comes after the approval of three impeachment articles earlier this year.
