Green River City Council to Make Multiple Proclamations | #citycouncil


GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council will make four different proclamations during its meeting Tuesday night.

The Council will meet Tuesday, October 4 at 7 p.m. at Green River City Hall.

The first proclamation will be for declaring October 2022 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the proclamation, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual campaign to encourage screenings, early detection, and to increase awareness about the disease while also supporting survivors and those who are currently battling breast cancer.

October 2022 is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month which recognizes the need to treat victims of domestic violence with compassion and dignity, and raises awareness for the different variations of domestic violence.

The Council will also proclaim the week of October 9 to October 15 as Fire Prevention Week in Green River. Fire Prevention Week advocates for residents to have home fire escape plans and to ensure all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly.

Lastly, the Council will proclaim October 22 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The proclamation states that this month encourages parents and caregivers to become educated in opportunities to prevent pregnancy and infant loss, and supports bereaved families when prevention is not possible.
